When one woman’s boyfriend cheated on her, the smoking gun was a Fitbit, she says.
Nadia Essex, who starred as a dating agent on the British reality show Celebs Go Dating, told the story in a TikTok video that quickly went viral. The video was a reply to another TikTokker, who asked users to share “the moment you knew your relationship was over”.
“Oh honey, I’ve got a doozie,” Ms Essex began.
“When my ex-boyfriend came home from a night out, I woke up in the morning and thought, ‘Let me make him some breakfast,’” she said.
“I got a notification on my Fitbit – the Fitbit that we’d synced together – that between two o’clock and three o’clock in the morning, he had burned 500 calories.”
Ms Essex then took a long, meaningful pause.
“I shoved that breakfast where the sun don’t shine, darling,” she concluded.
The video has racked up over 48,000 likes and about 500 comments on TikTok.
“Well at least you found out,” one supportive viewer wrote. “Who knows how long it would’ve carried on for it you hadn’t!”
Another said the story had convinced her to buy her own tell-tale fitness tracker.
“I’ve been in two minds about getting a Fitbit,” she commented, but “guess who’s on her way to get one ASAP.”
Another commenter was more open to other explanations for the late-night aerobics.
“I was about to say he could have been dancing in a club,” the user wrote, “but if you knew what he was really doing…”
Ms Essex replied ominously, “He wishes that was what it was.”
The popular TikTokker, who bills herself as a “Dating Guru” and “Love Coach,” appeared on seasons 1 to 5 of Celebs Go Dating. She has close to 37,000 followers on TikTok.
