EU has ‘shown its true colours’ in vaccine export threat

Brendan Chilton from the Independent Business Network has criticised the European Union after the European Commission last night threatened to impose controls on the Pfizer jab.

It comes as European health commissioner Stella Kyriakides accused AstraZeneca, which works with Oxford University on its vaccine, of not giving a valid explanation for failing to deliver doses to the bloc.

Speaking with talkRADIO’s Mike Graham, Mr Chilton said: “What message does it send to the world that the European Union’s immediate instinct is protectionism, building walls and putting restrictions on when we should all be cooperating together; whether you’re inside the EU or outside the EU.

“They’ve really shown their true colours on this.”
