'It’s an outrage that Sadiq Khan has been the unelected Mayor of London for a year' | 11-Jan-21

Political commentator John Rentoul says the UK should “bust a gut” to ensure local elections take place in May, having been postponed last year due to Covid.

Speaking with talkRADIO’s Mike Graham, he said: “I think it’s very, very important that democracy continues and it’s an outrage that Sadiq Khan has been the unelected Mayor of London for a year. The same goes for Andy Burnham in Manchester.”

Millions of voters should this year get their first chance to have a say on how politicians have handled Covid-19 and Brexit with a bumper set of elections to be held across Great Britain on “Super Thursday” – May 6.
