Is it racist for football fans to boo players who take the knee?

talkRADIO’s Ian Collins reacts football fans booing players ahead of the Millwall-Derby match as they took the knee for Black Lives Matter.

He says: “I can understand why a lot of white people think ‘why are you doing this? Why are you defining me or my country as something that looks like Mississippi in 1978?’

“What do you think is going to come of that? Because I think only bad things will come of that.”

Millwall have insisted they are “dismayed and saddened” by events at The Den on Saturday.

Fans were back at Millwall for the first time since February 29 after London was placed in tier two of the current system of coronavirus restrictions, but some of the 2,000 home crowd booed when players from both sides took a knee.
