Deputy leader writer at The Sun Olivia Utley says the in-fighting at Number 10 is “a soap opera which is fun if you’re bored of coronavirus news, but not great for the country.”
During a crucial week for Brexit negotiations, Olivia says “everyone’s just throwing their toys out of the pram”, adding that Downing Street director of communications Lee Cain does not get on with Carrie Symonds.
Lee Cain, had recently resigned amid reports of internal tensions in Downing Street. He will leave next month, despite being offered a promotion to chief of staff.
Expressing concern at potential chaos, Olivia told Mike Graham “the Prime Minister can’t concentrate on what he’s supposed to be doing. It’s quite likely we will just have a very messy Brexit.
